Interlude

Middle-of-the-week, middle-of-the-weather.  We're supposed to have (relatively) clear skies and (relatively) low humidity today.  I suppose I ought to celebrate with something outside-ish, but my bicycle schedule is Tuesday-Thursday-Sunday, and we can't go messing with Routine.  And the lawn doesn't quite need mowing yet.  Even with the rain encouraging the damned stuff.

I wish the rain would encourage me.  Have this sketch floor  plan for the Starling Graveyard on my drafting table, haven't added a line to it in several days.  Have a start of two different stories on my Mac desktop, haven't added a word to either in months.

Ambition, as Mr. Anthony reminds us, should be made of sterner stuff.

Measure for measure

I note with some amusement that a congressional committee has cited Karl Rove for "Contempt of Congress."  Probably wouldn't have so much trouble that way if they weren't so contemptible . . .

(Or, in the words of a '50s liberal called before HUAC*, "I have nothing but contempt for this Congress!")

*"House Un-American Activities Committee", for you young-uns.
