Tuesday no-roadkill report
Jun. 24th, 2008 10:37 amStill no fresh roadkill on the weekday bike route. The porcupines out at the Porcupine Graveyard (similar to the Elephant Graveyard but rather smaller and with sharper points) look less fresh by the day -- the earlier one is mostly a flat sprawl of quills by the roadside, while the newer corpse retains some vertical profile.
Sunny and warm this morning, with enough breeze to be a nuisance for biking. Also humid. Water lilies blooming, some shrubs I couldn't identify at 15 mph from 20 yards off (sprays of small white flowers -- maybe elderberry) and all the usual suspects. Some areas of field buttercups look like Gauguin's yellow shadows in the Tahiti paintings.
Today's ride takes me over 500 miles for the year.
