Sunday roadkill report
Jun. 8th, 2008 12:42 pmCouple of tattered squirrels, two squashed turtles (one small snapper, one UFO (unidentified flattened object)), a couple of garter snakes belly-up on the pavement. Rather undistinguished batch of carrion.
Not-roadkill, one deer standing on the road shoulder, waiting to be mashed into venison stew by the next pulp truck. I thought the blinkin' thing was going to hit me.
Temperature about 60 F when I headed out, 85 F when I got back. Lots of new flowers out there, including purple vetch, phlox, and daisies. Also flocks of cyclists, taking advantage of the newfound warmth. Only two of them passed me.
Now I can veg out for the afternoon.
