Damp

Rain ended overnight, but the memory lingers in the form of fog.  Air temperature and dew point both quite similar numbers.

We needed the rain, with high fire danger in the woods and fields, some areas moving into "Red Flag" status.  Should have squashed that for a few days, at least.

Faint hints of sun, with some dry pavement showing.  Bike ride possible?

Glad that Ramirez finally hit his 500th home run last night.  Now he can get back to having fun.  And the Red Wings won another, putting them one game away from the Cup.  Hockey, basketball, and baseball probably shouldn't overlap seasons like this...

Thirty miles on the highways and byways of our fair state, and not even a flattened squirrel.  What has happened to our critters?

(Did see the usual supply of bloodstains, so probably this dearth just represents a population explosion in the coyotes and corvids.  God knows we saw enough crows on that drive to New Hampshire and back.  And probably a raven or two.)

Pedaled downriver this time, then inland a bit.  Buttercups blooming, and the first patch of lupines I've seen this year.  Ovenbirds shouting "teacher teacher teacher!" at each other in the woods.

Chance of thunderstorms this afternoon.

I see that the studio "back lot" fire write-up mentions the destruction of film and video in a "vault".

This does not meet my professional architectural definition of a "vault."

Two rounds of thunderstorms through, which should spell the end of this.  Some heavy rain and wind gusts, but we seem to have missed the hail.  Wife spotted a good rainbow out at the nature center, after the first bout.
