Gloom

Raining, temperature in the 40s F.  Good thing I have all that fine new digital television to watch.  Funny, though -- looks pretty much like the old TV...

The other face of "triage"

Wife was talking to a woman who runs programs out at the nature center.  Her son is headed home from his second all-expense-paid tour of the sandbox, this time with a hole in his arm.  A minor hole. 

Except, seems that military medical care is so overloaded that he couldn't get treatment.  Full up with blast trauma and sucking chest wounds.  No room at the inn.

So that minor hole had time to develop a major infection...

Annoying ad lines

A car company, to remain nameless, has been touting the line, "If you can dream it, you can do it."

Uh, no.  Unless you have really, really boring dreams...

(Hell, even my more rational dreams, involving no violations of the laws of nature and of nature's god, often include people dead for thirty years or so.)
