Geese!

Well, last night's post did include duck, duck...

Wild geese calling overhead, three wedges (Wife saw them, I didn't) of about 20 each.  I guess spring blew in on the northwest wind.

Which is rattling the house.  High wind warning in effect, gusts over 50 mph.

My task for the day involves the Subaru dealership, to fix a minor gas leak and see what else needs done in order to get a '95 vehicle state-inspected for another year.  We figure that if it costs less than $1000 US, it's worth it.  Next year, we may trade both of them in on a newer century and revert to one-car-family status.

The downside of spring thaw

All the crap that the snowbanks absorbed and hid through the last four months is now surfacing.  (I use "crap" in both the literal and figurative sense -- clean up after your damned dogs, people!)

But anyway, a winter's supply of dead squirrels and MacDonald's wrappers and mangled beer cans and discarded condom packets now decorates our roadsides and yards.  Also, last fall's leaf piles, that the city didn't finish scooping before the first snow hit.  And today's wind is drying out all of the above and redistributing it.  So-called "spring" does not present a pretty face.

And those leaf piles.  I can hear a thousand husbands and sons complaining, "I raked those leaves last year.  Once is enough!"

Well, it would have been nice...

...to get another year out of that car.
