Sunshine?

One of the downside items (besides slush and muck and ice-dam roof leaks) of the typical January thaw would be the typical gray sky.  This morning we have sun.  I'm pretty sure that is sunshine.  Let me check the archives for a comparison sample...

Yes, sunshine.

Another downside of January Thaws

Pothole slalom, a premier event in the Maine Olympics.

We may set a record high for the date. Current temperature 49F, record mentioned last night was 50.  Watch them snow-piles waste away, watch the ski trails turn to wet pigeon guano.  Shortly to be followed by transformation to ice.

Political ponderings, non-Politically Correct

I wonder how many people would vote against Clinton simply because she is a woman.  I wonder how many people would vote against Obama simply because he is (sorta) Black.

It's a non-zero number, in each case, no matter how much one might wish it were otherwise.  Worth thinking about for the die-hard Democrats out there -- this isn't an "Anyone but Bush" election.  Bush isn't running.  And "Anyone but Bush" didn't work, even when he was..

Another one bites the dust
