Well, it's "hurricane" Noel.  Still aimed at the mythical land of Nova Scotia, but we now have High Wind Warnings as well as rain for Saturday.  Mention of widespread power outages, etc.  That latter bit may put a crimp in my TV football watching.  Fie.

I'll try to get in another interim lawn-raking before le deluge, cut down on the amount of stuff blowing around.  Our maple still has some ammunition in reserve...

Errands first.

Okay, first stop downtown, returning dead books to library and picking up live ones.  Thence out to grocery store for coffee etc.  Except, first I encounter a detour for sewer work.  Then, out to the interstate, with a paving project underway and traffic restricted to one lane.  Under the bridge removal that prevents me from sneaking the back way to a different grocery store.  Off that onto Stillwater, with widening and utility relocation attendant to new stores, flaggers and traffic cones all over hell and creation.  Finally into the grocery store parking lot, goods purchased, and a roundabout route home avoiding all of the above.  Couple of signs saying "Work Area" but no evident work in progress.

Reminds me of that old Maine truth -- we have two seasons: winter and road work.

Have raked a couple of tarp-loads of leaves and hauled them to the pile in back, there to compost in peace.  Wonder how far the stock market will fall today...

Current forecast is for winds in excess of 50 mph, 3"+ rain.  With storm surges.  This, of course, depends on exact location of the recipient, including wind exposures.  We're inland and on high ground.

Fun should start tomorrow afternoon.  Or maybe they'll bypass us and go bother Barnstead and that damned cat.
