Red sky at morning

High thin clouds before sunrise -- I could see the moon through them, hazy, but not Venus.  We're supposed to get showers later.  That tropical storm (Noel) should head offshore, bothering naught but shipping between Bermuda and Newfoundland, but we'll reserve judgment on that.

No visible repercussions of Hallow'een or Samhain in the neighborhood.

Have a dental hygienist appointment this morning, oh joy oh rapture.  Get the coffee stains scrubbed off, all that patient work gone to waste.

Meanwhile, back at the weathermen

Noon weather projects that Noel, or the "extra-tropical" incarnation of same, may track further west and grow more than first thought.  As in, now aimed at Halifax with the potential of 80 mph (128 kph) winds.  John Barnstead, take note.

We may get some coastal wind and rain on this side of the Gulf of Maine.

And he lived to a ripe old age...

The pilot of the Enola Gay is dead, another WWII vet of the dwindling ranks.  Few had the fame or notoriety.  Just for the record, I don't see any moral difference between the Hiroshima bomb and the firebomb raids on Tokyo.  Or Dresden, or any of the other massive raids on civilian targets.
