A few billion people (China and India) have decided that they want to live like Americans.  Oil prices have risen accordingly.  That "pain" is the laws of economics telling us to change our ways...

Exercise for the student -- compare US gas prices with Europe.  Or even with prices in Saudi Arabia.

Also, the maple tree outside my back room window has turned opaque.  I can't snoop on the neighbors and watch Neighbor Daughter and her Gang working out a way, with ladder, to get into the house via an upstairs window.  Apparently someone forgot or lost someone's key...

Sneaky chickadees

Saw a 'dee dithering about in the dying rowan, with something in its beak.  It then zipped into the hole and emerged without the something.  That qualifies as suspicious behavior.

They may not have abandoned that nest cavity, after all.

Slander?

When I informed Wife of the location of that big wildfire in New Jersey, she commented "That's a lot of burning poison ivy.  Glad we're not downwind."

Yeah, we lived there for a while.
