Further on the sausages and packages tracking. As of March 27, 2:24 PM, the box of books had been logged in at North Salt Lake, UT...

On the way from Connecticut to Maine.

Hey, they haven't lost it. Yet.

Wife says that if _this_ is what the travel agents mean by a "package tour", she'll decline.

Heard from Nice Agent Lady on the partial of POWERS that I sent her. Good news and bad news.

First, she doesn't think it's too much like anything else out there. This contrasts with SIGNATURES, which has garnered several rejections for similarity to Jim Butcher's Dresden stories. And she likes Old Guy, from what she's seen of him, and doesn't know where the story is going yet, which are both good.

However, she questions whether the first-person POV and narrative asides are the best way to hold the reader's attention. Those worked for SIGNATURES because of the detective noir style-sheet. Here, it comes across as too much "telling" and not enough "showing."

I can redo to close third-person form, which I used for all four published books, but that means I'm going to lose a lot of the storyteller background Old Guy tosses in as he goes along. Have to work to fit it back in some other way.

Why can't this be easy?

(Yeah, if it was easy, anybody could do it.)
