You know that the nation is far down the Road to Hell, riding in the traditional handbasket, when I find myself cheering _against_ a generally inoffensive college football team on the sole basis of the quality of politicians that state has foisted off on the rest of us.

Sorry, Texas, but you get tainted by the company you keep. Or elect.

Actually not. Moved here as a child but born in New England. And he vacations in Maine. But some of us never voted for him and I refuse to accept responsibility for him.

He's less Texan than I am, and I don't think of myself as Texan at all -- this is just where I happen to be living. Bush is a born-and-bred East Coast preppie, just like his daddy was.

Keep in mind that the University of Texas is one of the most anti-Bush universities in the state. Austin in general is unfriendly territory to him too.

As for the game, it was great. Two superb teams playing their hearts out, and it was anyone's game right down to the last few seconds.

Ronnie Earle is the Travis County district attorney who is prosecuting Delay for money laundering

Grandma is the Texas State Controller who has announced her candidacy for governor. She's a republican, but is running as an independent. She was the Mayor of Austin a while back for several years. Her slogan (for years) has been "One Tough Grandma"

Kinky is also running for governor this year. :-)

Texas politics can be interesting at times....
