Fog and scattered showers early this morning, now just gray skies and the roads seem to be drying off. And the weather radar doesn't show any green globs for an hour or so.

For you southern types, the furnace came on in the middle of the night, even though we still have the thermostat down to summer set-back.

I think I may try a local bike ride -- across to the airport and back, lots of possible retreats if one of the weather gods should happen to notice a target and start pissing. Or in case my knee goes wonky. Having another of those spells where it starts griping if I stay in one position too long -- glad I don't have to fly or drive somewhere.

Did some words on POWERS this morning, converting from Fat Wizard to Old Guy, with the different tone and perspective that I'm working into. Slowly. Still first person past POV, with narrative asides in present. Dunno why, but that seems to fit the changed story just as much.

Whatever the changed story _is_, which I don't know yet.

In-city ride, for sufficiently-loose values of "city", so I didn't expect much roadkill. On the other hand, we've had a moose in our back yard, so you never know.

Slipped in a cross-town ride between raindrops, but I'm not sure I ended up any drier for the timing. Humidity is about 100% out there, and I was inside the bottom edges of the clouds on some of my higher hills. Condensation dripping off the bike helmet. And gusty wind.

Anyway, over to the airport and back, with rain holding off until I got out of the shower back home. Made up a pot of cheese-potato soup for lunch. Life is just packed with thrills.
