Thursday roadkill report
Sep. 7th, 2006 11:09 amOne "Jimmy"-type SUV by the side of the road with steam billowing from under the hood. Further on, a pickup going in the opposite direction with a set of flashing blue lights following. Probably going over 25 mph in that zone, but _I_ sometimes go over 25 down that hill on my bicycle.
Also one flat garter snake on the paved shoulder, far enough off to the side that the damned driver must have been _aiming_.
Cloudy and damp this morning, but not much rain overnight. Got out on the bike, didn't push hard because that damned right knee is complaining again. Sumac leaves starting to turn red, also some small-leaved shrubby stuff I didn't stop to identify. Faint tinge of yellow starting to show on the birch and aspen. Water up to the edge of the road out in the bog.
