Tuesday roadkill report
Aug. 15th, 2006 01:03 pmOne dead hare in the ditch out in the bog. The corpse lay on the other side of the road, half-hidden by grass and weeds, but nothing else around here has ears like that. Also saw a live woodchuck vanishing into the grass about a hundred yard back along the road.
Rain overnight, humid and cloudy this morning, so I had to wait a bit for the roads to dry out before I climbed on the bike. Not that I haven't ridden in the rain before, but that stuff you get splashed all over you _isn't_ clean. Also, I like a decent coefficient of friction under my tires.
City crew is paving the sidewalks and driveway aprons on the other side of the street today. Three men working, five men watching, I think they hope the State Highway Department has scouts in the ballpark stands taking notes. But if we get through _this_, the Sewer Project From Hell will be done. Finished. Kaput.
No writing done for several days now. The back-pressure is going to get me, sooner or later.
