Ecological niches
Jun. 8th, 2006 08:27 amBunch of maybe-news about the maybe-death of Abu Musab al Asshole this morning. People jumping up and down and cheering.
Well, if true, the world will have been relieved of one plague microbe. Problem is, there's a plenitude where that one came from. The purported leaders of these purported organizations are _not_ indispensable. They are more like interchangeable parts. Kill off one Osama and another will come out of the hills.
Pretty much like woodchucks. If I trap one woodchuck, pretty soon there'll be another brazen beast grazing on the greenery. It's an ecological necessity. Provide a source of food and _something_ will show up to eat it.
Still raining. Maybe that's the source of my gloomy analysis.
