Sunday roadkill report
May. 21st, 2006 01:41 pmOne each porcupine, snowshoe (varying) hare, woodchuck. Couple each crow and gull -- the latter, I couldn't key out to species from the available remains. Glad to see the asphalt properly decorated again.
The spirit was willing, so the flesh could just get over it. I took my achy knee out for a ride. We'll see the ramifications of that tonight or tomorrow. Have swallowed a couple of preemptive ibuprofen.
Mixed sun and clouds, temperature around 60 F, breezy with admixtures of apple blossom petals, generally a nice though hilly ride. Bicyclists learn to regard road names such as "Shaw Hill Road" or "Mann Hill Road" with suspicion, but I've done these routes a few dozen times and know what I'm getting into. And I swear, every time I get out into the country around here, I find a subdivision of new homes that weren't there on the last ride. The Great North Woods is turning into frigging New Jersey.
