Not much happening here as the date marches closer across Asia and Europe. Nor do I expect the (scant) snow to turn purple when midnight crosses our coordinates. We shall, as usual, celebrate by the chimes of Big Ben from the BBC on my boat-anchor Hallicrafters SX-28. Thus, by GMT or UTC, at 7:03 PM EST, we'll be done.

Haven't stayed up to midnight in maybe thirty years. This doesn't count the times we've been woken up at that time by certain surly babies....
