Wilma has reached our vicinity. Also Alpha, which I would guess lacks gender, and an unnamed "low" from out of the Great Lakes and central plains area. The combination promises interesting times. Maybe kitten or some other source more up-to-date on modern mating customs can tell me how you hyphenate a three-way...

We are, as I have noted before, about 100' above MSL and twenty miles inland, though a quarter mile from tidewater. We also lack large trees in crunching distance from the house. Therefore, the prospect of 60mph+ winds doth not me daunt. Much.

Maine weather in a nutshell -- watching a tropical storm bluster past, with winter weather advisories for snow above 1000' elevation....

(Later)

Okay, wet snow mixed in with that rain, and the temperature is dropping into the upper 30s F. Wife has declared, in regal and commanding fashion, "It won't stick." Hope that decree works. But how'd we elevate to the foothills of Western Maine with no discernible seismic activity?

Well, it would appear that Wilma headed further out to sea than first forecast, leaving us with the colder side of the conglomerate storm. Thus, 35 F outside right now, and mixed snow and sleet and rain. Condensed weather report from Channel 2 -- "Ugly." That's a quote, folks. Winds gusting up to 50 mph on the coast, 30 mph locally.

We do have precip accumulation, but nothing ski-worthy.

Meanwhile, back to concept plans on a disused school building, to be renovated into school district offices.
