Well, the "tropical" part of "tropical downpours" seems to have arrived -- warm and humid, with the sun trying to break through the morning fog and cloud. That's Maine values for "warm," mind you, temperatures in the 70s. May try to mow the lawn this afternoon if the grass ever dries.
We've had a swarm of goldfinches at the thistle feeder this morning, some number in excess of ten (that number counted simultaneously) and many of them obviously operating on learner's permits. They haven't gotten this landing part worked out too well. And then there's the cute wing-fluttery begging bit the fledglings pull on their harassed parents.
