Minor continuing puzzlement
Nov. 27th, 2004 12:40 pmFurther from my reporter embedded with the NYPL:
"However, I forgot to mention - Booklist reviews frequently
have a line under the main review indicating possible Young Adult (teenage)
interest/use. Yours says 'The continuation of an ideal fantasy for YAs.'"
Now, I am about to label myself as an utter fossil, but I had never aimed Summer Country or Winter Oak at the YA market. Booklist is a publication of the American Library Association, Secret Masters of the Universe each and all of them, and I feel vaguely queasy about such a group recommending all that violence, foul language, and "adult situations" to anyone under the age of Full Consenting Adult.
Hey, I just write the stuff, I don't market it. "That's not my department," to quote Werner von Braun. Or Tom Lehrer.
