Well, the sacred Sunday bike ride got curtailed. Put in 25 miles and got bored with fighting headwinds or nearly being blown off the road. Winds are in the 15 - 20 mph range, with gusts to maybe 30, and that starts to get dangerous for biking on the highway.
Nothing really interesting, either flora or fauna, except the traditional dead skunks in the middle of the road. One thing I notice every year, though -- I see enough poison ivy along the roadside, you'd almost think the DOT includes it in their seed mix. Pity the guys who have to repair the mowing equipment.
Almost through with the page proofs on WINTER OAK. Hey, it looks like a story! Got nagging doubts on the editorial cuts of one chapter, think the Nice Editor Lady took out enough that a few passages get obscure or garbled. But "obscure or garbled" seems to sell, judging by stuff I read, so who am I to complain?
Patched up the garage floor again -- wood, wearing through, but then the whole building is going to collapse under a snowdrift some winter. Hey, the place only holds bikes and canoes and lawnmowers, hasn't seen a car inside in over twenty years. That's life.
