The party's over

Storm has departed, headed off Barnstead-wards, leaving maybe 3" of snow gleaming under the waxing moon. Wife drove home early with no alarums or excursions.

The Xmas lights on the neighbor hedge gain a bit of magic from shining through their snow cover.

And Robert Sheckley has died. He told some good stories.

damn - he was ill at the time of Worldcon - they were collecting names on a giant "best wishes" card for him.

I was sorry to hear about Robert Sheckley.

The storm kept me overnight at my retired colleague Ieva's home -- the hill up to the road from where she lives was just too treacherous to manage until this morning. We had some rare, spectacular winter lightning with the storm as well.
