Author event

*sneaks quietly in and thumbtacks message to the bulletin board*

Critically-acclaimed author James A. Hetley will give a reading from his latest
novel, DRAGON'S EYE, and sign copies of any book shoved under his pen (even
books by competing writers) at:

Borders Books, Music, and Cafe
Bangor Mall Boulevard
Bangor, Maine
2:00 PM
Saturday, 5 November 2005

That's a long way away. I didn't realize how far it was. I was thinking maybe a 2 hour drive instead of 4.

I was afraid you'd notice that. Would have been nice to have _somebody_ show up -- even local stalwarts have schedule conflicts.

(Having driven Younger Son to grad school several times, I am acutely aware of how much Maine stretches between here and far New Hampshire.)

Please note that was not me saying we wouldn't come. It is good that it is a Saturday. Can sleep in that morning and then sleep in the next morning.

Talk about dedication!

*snerk* Talk about wanting to talk historical renovation with someone who is actually making a living at it.

The other bit that [livejournal.com profile] unixronin just reminded me of is that he's having surgery on Wednesday and we don't know if he'll be able to stand the drive. :-/

.me just bought _The Winter Oak_ this weekend...

(on my very restricted budget, I still try to get one paperback a month, and this was it...)

Good luck, and have fun with the reading, too! Hope you sell a bazillion books. Wandering through the SF/F section and dragging people over to your table by their collars totally allowed.

Sorry we can't be there, but the doctor is telling [livejournal.com profile] kinzel ten days at least of rest, real rest, I mean it, rest after this next piece of business is taken care of on Thursday, so Saturday in Bangor is right out.

Yikes! That sounds . . . drastic. Good luck to both of you.

And Kristen says she can't be there, either. Between her and you guys, there goes half my sales in one swell foop.

You have got to get an event a little closer to civilization. Or New Hampshire. Whichever. My gas budget won't take me to occupied Canada.

Still trying to find the books and the money at the same time.
