I love the smell of asphalt in the morning

Not unlike napalm, without the added combustibles of thatch and jungle and flesh.

Pavement happens. This _should_ make our street more hospitable over the next indefinite interval, even though we'll only get the base course this year. "They" want the roadbed to consolidate over the winter before finish work next spring.

And, in an item of some note, there is no actual rain occurring at this precise instant in this precise location. Subject to change without notice, particularly once the remnants of Wilma get done with Florida and scoot up the east coast. Barnstead take note -- Halifax appears to reside firmly in the storm's cross-hairs.

Wilma is about off the state now. Here, in the center of Florida, conditions are rain and wind. Not a particularly heavy rain and not any major gusts. I would guess, considering how cold the water is, it can only lose strength as it goes up to you. It's a 2 at this moment, but it's only a nuisance here.
