Hazy, hot, humid, you know the drill....

Yeah, you Texans and other tropical sorts don't consider upper 80s F "hot." We do.
Speaking of _hot_, watching the shuttle landing on infra-red was . . . different. Even the tires glowed on roll-out. One hot machine? Anyway, feelings of major relief that they got down and stopped in one piece.
After that, went out for my own version of Hot Wheels, bicycle tires on August asphalt. Road served up the usual breakfast of squirrel pancakes, plus one dismembered porcupine out by the bog. Not much else notable, except that the bike computer glitched somewhere between 5 and 6 miles out, losing .05 mile in the process. I'm guessing that we lost contact with reality, or at least the transmitter wires from the front fork, for a minute or so when I went over the repaving job out by the golf course.
Got Dierdre and Fiona together in the Enchanted Forest yesterday, will polish that up a bit this morning and print out the chapter draft. Since Pat Wrede and several others have had Enchanted Forest series, maybe I'll call mine The Four Seasons. Not likely to be confused with Vivaldi. But I have to finish writing it first.
