Sunday vernal report

First dragonfly seen -- midrange in size, dark. Go bug go! Also, first yellow hawkweed.

Hobblebush, honeysuckle, and chokecherries blooming along the forest edges.

One live woodchuck, one that had been dead for several weeks if not months. Fur and bones.

Temperature got up into the middle 50s F, gusty wind, but I slathered on sunscreen and headed downriver to the next town. Did not die.

It was 86 at 9:30 am this morning, and felt five degrees hotter. I wish you could send some of that coolness down here. I'd gladly give you 10-20 degrees of heat.
