Speaking of Banes

The ice-cream truck has emerged from hibernation, cruising our quaint narrow streets with canned renditions of Joplin's "The Entertainer" on an electronic sound system that you can hear for a measured mile. We'll get _them_ with the Skunk Launcher (TM) some day, and their little dog, too.

Mine plays the tune my first toy played me to send me to sleep.

Which is irritating at seven in the evening.

Very much so.

I once lived in a neighborhood that was visited by "The Ice Cream Truck of the Damned". It would play classical pieces as if through a muffled off key kazoo.

Earlier today, it was proposed, on one of the mailing lists I receive, that it would be most interesting if the ice cream trucks would play "O Fortuna" (the opening of Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, which is the opening for Ozzy Osbourne and a number of other metal acts, which is the music in dozens of commercials and movies, for those who aren't sure.)

I think that would work much betterer than the happy go-lucky fare they usually play. Of course, "Ride of the Valkyrie" would also work well, if played quite loudly on a hi-fidelity system. Canned, I'm sure either one or the other would still sound like "The Entertainer" in the end.
