Shy. They hide out in the woods along with the tree-squeak and the fili-loo bird. Lots of woods in Maine....

(Actually, I believe we had the local iteration of bison, back in early colonial days. Also used to have woodland caribou, namesake of Caribou Bog adjacent to one of my ski routes.)
