Yeah, have to clean out the ashes/coals every few weeks. Wood heat is messy, and winter lasts longer than a few weeks up here . . .

Our main source of heat is a converted coal boiler and convection hot water system, using cast-iron "radiators." It now burns oil, like most of the home heating systems up here. Piped natural gas wasn't available until a few years ago.
