Another day, another shoveling job

Relocation of snow completed.  We received about 4" of fluff overnight, but as I am in the throes of the New York Ick (Xmas gift from Sister), I sacrificed some fossil fuel to run the snowblower.  This does not eliminate shoveling, as I then have to clean off the escape pods and work in close around them, do the walks and steps, etc, etc, etc.

Various people have been pointing out that Ms. Bhutto might not have been quite the shining star we would want running our country.  This is true.  But when running your country, or your political party, gives you a 50/50 chance of assassination, as it does in much of that part of the world, setting aside a few million dollars in a Swiss bank to see your kids through college looks like a rational approach.  I believe she stole no more than was customary for her position.

I agree. In fact, I'll go further than that: Ms. Bhutto was no more corrupt than Bush, and can you imagine the howls of outrage if he were to be assassinated? This is just people making excuses because she was (1) brown and (2) female.

And (3) not in our pocket.

Well, as far as assassinations of the corrupt in _our_ country are concerned, I'd fall back on the quote from back at the Kennedy/Johnson interface:

"Better men than him are murdered every day."
