"Papers, please?"

Internal passports -- Joe Stalin loved them, why not us...

(Maine is one of the states that rejected "Real ID")

Interesting. I see it says "birth certificate". Hmm, I have a passport which is supposed to be functionally equivelent and is already considered a valid federal id. Not good enough for the DMV though?

BTW, arent there a fair number of citizens without birth certificates still?

But our Post Office is in the Federal Building, which means I'd need to have a passport to enter, in order to apply for a passport...

Where's Joseph Heller when you really need him?

Thats one way to cut down on the passport backlog I suppose.

Lets see, the DMV would be a state building. Would all Post Offices be Federal buildings? Would that mean showing an ID to pick up my mail and buy stamps?

So what happens if a person is called to be a juror (or otherwise summoned to appear) in a Federal Court and they dont have the required ID card?

I foresee a big demand for security folks to check all these IDs in Federal buildings. I had no idea waiting in security lines was so popular.
