Cats

I would like to know what Nikita the Cat was staring at, off in the darksome shadows of the night, ears pricked and whiskers twitching. Something eldritch, or just the worms rustling dead leaves around? Important enough that she didn't come over to me and demand her usual worship, anyway.

More likely the neighborhood skunk.
