Friday no-roadkill report

That's right, boys and girls, the astonishing dearth of squashed critters continues on the highways and byways of the Great North Woods. Not even a fresh squirrel or pigeon corpse for the tally.

Sunshine, light and variable winds, and temperature around 60s made a bike ride a statutory mandate. Shorts and tee shirt weather for April in Maine -- yes, I can hear the shivers all the way from Florida and Texas. For us, 60 F counts as warm. More wood frogs quacking in the bog, no sign of skunk cabbage yet, couldn't see any actual ice even well in under the spruce and cedar shadows.

Added words to SIGNATURES this morning, one of Fat Wizard's plots seems to be working. That doesn't make him happy, since _that_ one includes a fair level of moral ambiguity. Also, for those of you familiar with Zelazny's ISLE OF THE DEAD, this particular plot involves a duel similar to the ritual of _glitten_ root...

(And what kind of ignorant spell-checker doesn't know Roger Zelazny, anyway?)

Waaah - it's warmer there than it is here! (And there's all kinds of snow predicted for the Cascades this weekend, too).

Not that it's keeping the roadkill down, mind you. It's definitely flat-'possum season, and I've even spotted a couple of flat 'coons.

Don't use up your supply of envy. Latest forecasts say we won't hit the 60s again until late next week. Of course, if you believe the forecasts I have this nice bridge over the Penobscot Narrows for sale...
