Optimism

On the "I can't ski" front, I went over to the bike shop and picked out a pair of clipless pedals for the bike today. In theory, the roads should become available for bicycle use sometime. Maybe by July?

Windy, chilly. Forecast suggests that we may reach or exceed the freezing point of water within the next couple of days.

Also stopped in at that apartment renovation. Work progresses -- we may yet have inspection and occupancy. May.

Maybe you could pick up a relatively cheap mountain bike? It'd get you over the rough spots. Not nearly as fast as your road bike, but it beats nothing.

I already have a mountain bike, not cheap, maybe about 15 years old (pre-suspension type). I ride that in the spring when the roads are at their worst. As you say, slower but it survives the slings and arrows.

Also own a spare road bike.
