Après moi, le déluge

Air temperature 48 F, south wind gusting to 42 mph, raining. Supposed to abate to a few showers in a few hours. Bare grass showing on the lower edge of the park and a few spots in our lawn. Still have power, heat, and a roof over our heads. Which qualifies us as "rich" to a large chunk of humanity.

Minor mysteries

Just had three ringbill gulls fighting over something that thawed out of the snowplow berm out front. I kinda want to know what valuable morsel the winner carried off, and kinda don't . . .

Best-laid plans agley

In addition to laying bare the squirrels' acorn mines, the rain and thaw are revealing mouse/vole tunnels across our lawn. Critters will now be exposed to the sharp eyes and sharper talons or teeth of hunters.

Back from a walk, just a bit of mist at the start. Considerable runoff had me walking in the street as much as not. You could stock some of those streams and ponds with trout . . .

Fog settling across the park. Not at all unusual after late winter rain. Visibility under 1/4 mile at the airport, which correlates with what we can see out the front windows.
