No supply shortage

Air temperature 41 F, up from a low of 36 F overnight. Wind near calm, sky partly cloudy. Ritual bouquet of dandelions gathered for the resident mother, but some may be duds because they are all shut tight against the cold. We'll see how they develop. The relish jar, at least, maintains tradition.

How much of what we read in the "news" is agitprop for one cause or another? And yes, spellcheck recognizes that word . . .

Pair of catbirds working around in the yew and azalea bushes out front. They've been residents since we first moved in, but we haven't located a nest. Or tried, for that matter. But it's a bit weird to have one staring at you through the window and then going about its business.

Sunday floral report

Black cherry blossoms have joined the shadbush, white in the forest. Saw another red trillium, had been hoping for a white. Roadside blueberries are starting to bloom.

No roadkill. Ten geese by the cemetery pond, neatly paired up for counting, and I got an earful of redwing blackbird as I pedaled past a cattail marsh.

Temperature vaulted up past 60 F and the wind dropped a little. Got out on the bike. Did not die.
