What passes for spring

Air temperature 32 F, wind east about 7 mph, raining. We don't seem to have collected much ice overnight. And no, I don't feel slighted. Did just hear a couple of geese overhead.

'Tis the season

Flock of geese rising from the scrubland next to the old mental hospital, still low enough I couldn't get a good count. 20 or so, first in a line and then forming into a vee as they climbed. And the first pale robin of migration -- males and females migrate on different schedules. We've been hearing house finches and now the first song sparrow.
