Weather on my mind

Air temperature 21 F, wind near calm, cloudy with light snow just leaving. We may postpone foraging until tomorrow, even though we only got a couple of inches of snow. Meanwhile, arctic doom approaches, straight from the North Pole.

House experiments

I've started running a hard-wired electric heater in the basement, installed at some time previous to our ownership. We'll see what it does in the projected sub-zero (F) with wind we're supposed to get in a few days. Didn't need it last year, but we didn't get a prolonged siege . . .

Persistent birdies

Those woodpeckers are still working on the old elm tree on my walk route. Must be a good lunch counter.
