Head-scratching moment

Out for the morning walk in slush and sub-freezing temperatures, and I encountered a little red sports-car with its top down. I suspect that the top doesn't work, that being a known issue of the genus.

Ominous music

For several months now, I've heard woodpeckers working away at a large elm on my walk route. They (two today) are not excavating holes but have knocked off a lot of bark. I suspect the tree-removal people may have another client. Dutch elm disease has already claimed most of the rest of its peers.
