Air temperature 62 F, wind southwest about 3 mph, mostly cloudy. Rain shower just passed through, barely enough to wet the roads. Should get in a bike ride later.

Leopard slug oozing its way across one of the damp concrete pavers out front. Think this may be the first one I've seen at our new location, but I'm sure they've been here all along.

Thursday avian report

Flock of wild turkeys in a mowed field, 8-10 youngsters and at least one adult. Also, C-5, C-130, and KC-135 in the visitors' parking out at the base. Another tanker landed while I was taking my water stop, but I couldn't tell if it was local or visitor.

Normal late summer flora, lots of goldenrod and goats-beard and the damned purple loosestrife.

Rode across town and over the hills and back, much cooler weather. Did not die.
