Wednesday maybe

Air temperature 45 F, wind near calm, scattered high thin clouds. Human race does not seem to have civilized itself overnight.

How do they rise up,
Rise up, rise up?
How do they rise up,
Rise up high?

Meow?

Had a couple of catbirds under our back yard honeysuckle bush yesterday. I think their tiny reptilian brains recognize a future source of berries and wanted to add it to their territory.

One ugly thing about democracy -- often, the results do represent the "will of the people."

Wednesday vernal report

Lilacs blooming right and left, in honor of the day. Bush honeysuckle in the woods, cultivated apples, first blooms low on the lupine spikes. Rhodora still blooming in the bog, but fewer bushes -- those flowers don't last long.

No roadkill seen. Quiet on the bird front, with few songs and neither ducks nor geese visible at the cemetery pond. Trees filling in.

Got out on the bike, upriver to the country club, across to the bog road, and home. Did not die. Ride takes me over 200 miles for the year.

It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
