Frosty Maine morning

Air temperature 32 F, near calm, fair sky. Hope nobody left their tomato plants outside last night -- there's a subtle difference between "hardening off" and "killing" . . .

Oh what a relief it is . . .

Plumber has been and gone and our bathroom sink drains again. Old houses . . .

Wednesday not-quite roadkill report

Something on the other side of the road as I headed past the cemetery pond on my way out, so I slowed down and checked it on my way back. Then walked the bike down into the ditch and flipped a pair of wings right side up, ID as mallard duck hen. Bunch of down scattered in the grass. That feeding habit indicates a large-ish raptor, eagle or great horned owl or red-tail hawk.

Got out on the bike, usual route which will be blocked next week for an indeterminate spell. Not warm, but not particularly windy. Did not die

15.30 miles, 1:20:15

(Precise figures indicate my switch to the road bike.)
