The greening of Maine

Air temperature 50 F, wind north about 5 mph, partly cloudy. I keep thinking we have warblers or finches in the rowan tree, but those lumps turn out to be opening buds. Meanwhile, we keep pulling maple seedlings out of the fern bed and other locations that won't be mowed.

More signs and portents

First bumblebees bumbling, trout lily patch shows flower buds, and a small sinkhole has opened in the next street over. Those are also signs of spring, as the ground thaws and subgrade washes out . . .

I have given the car its semi-annual wash and wax. In the process discovering a line of scuff with embedded red paint along the rear driver's side door, just about the right height for a minor encounter with my red snowblower during storm cleanup . . .
