Battening hatches
Doing bits and pieces of winterizing, as the days grow shorter. Washing car before doing so will cause the doors to freeze shut, then draining the hose and shutting off the outside faucet. Sealing up windows. Filling the gas jug for snowblower duty.
Chilly morning walk
Some robins in lawns on the far part of my route. These are probably undocumented aliens and may or may not be the ones that over-winter here. We've also been seeing assorted other thrushes passing through, mainly Swainson's.

Note to the youngsters: deliberate misspelling in posts ceased to be cute and trendy a decade or more ago. And while you're at it, get the hell off my lawn!
