Newspaper headline: "Slick Roads Cause Accidents"

No, folks, slick roads do _not_ cause accidents. Driver mistakes cause accidents. Sometimes the mistake lies in driving at all. We shall hope that such misjudgment does not overtake Wife on the way to work this morning. But she is a cautious Wife, with a car that provides all-wheel drive and antilock brakes.

Meanwhile, three inches of new snow await my shovel.

No pictures, huh? What do you do about branches and things on the ground? And rocks? You've got rocks there, don't you? What if you hit a rock?

Most of my ski trails are officially that, cleared and smoothed, and the ones up at the university forest are even groomed for cross-country skiing. The city forest trails aren't groomed, but get enough ski traffic to almost equal the snow quality.

Pictures? I run a free account, which limits the possibilities here, and don't do flickrs or whatever the site-du-jour is lately.
