Sunshine

Yes.  Bright yellow thing in sky.  Hurts eyes.

We're supposed to get windy and stay chilly, so probably no bike ride.  May make a pass at raking leaves -- driveway is getting slippery with them, but the maple holds plenty of ammunition in reserve.

And the morning fishwrapper reports "peak color" here and along the coast.  Time for your Fall Foliage Tour, with obligatory stops at various lobster pounds to support the local economy . . .

Meanwhile, I'll be piling that "peak color" along the back yard fences, to feed worms.

Reminder to rabid fans

The Sox have a history of raising hopes, merely to dash them all the harder on the rocks.  Yep, they've had history-making playoff runs before.  That's just to get you hoping all the more against impossible dark . . .

Whatever happened to "empty nest"?

I was just wandering around downstairs, waiting for the second cup of coffee to trickle down through grounds and filter into usefulness.  And contemplating the serried ranks of boxes left here by both Elder and Younger Sons.  Upstairs, downstairs, in milady's chamber.

Wonder when (or if) that stuff will be summoned to its destiny . . .

For every thing, there is a season

Just relocated a few bushels of maple leaves (with an admixture of maple seeds and leaflets from ash and mountain ash) from the side yard to along the back fence.  I remain serene in the knowledge that when Wife returns from work this afternoon, she won't be able to tell the difference . . .

Then went out for a walk, accompanied by the chatter of chickadees and cawing crows.  Breezy, temperature around 50 F, so a bike ride didn't seem desirable.
