Spite fences

Item on NPR "Morning Edition" today, interviews with a couple of Hillary delegates.  One of them is giving serious thought to voting McCain.  Says she's never voted Republican before . . .

(A "spite fence" is a Maine term, a fence or hedge put up for the sole purpose of spoiling your neighbor's "view" even if it damages your own.  We can reach Afghan levels in our multi-generational feuds.)

Tuesday roadkill report

One gray squirrel, one possible red-bellied snake.  The latter is tentative, because a flat red-bellied looks an awful lot like a discarded shoelace or length of wire . . .

Sunny, breezy, cool.  Nothing notable in the flora department, but a not-roadkill great blue heron in the cemetery pond.  Froggies, beware!

Brains is weird

I have no idea why I came up with Cher as mental music for this morning's bike ride.  "Born in the wagon of a traveling show, Momma used to dance for the money they'd throw . . ."

The Sunday ride, it was Johnny Horton and "Sink the Bismarck".

Stupid.  Why am I wasting brain-space on forty or fifty year old pop music?  The lyrics and music are all still in there . . .
