Follow-up on un-naming a bridge

Well, the Augusta city council has voted in favor of removing that priest's name from the bridge.  Has to go to the state legislature, though, because it's a state bridge.

I remain . . . uneasy . . . about trial-by-media forty years after the offense and more than thirty years after the alleged perp died.

EDIT:  Just to make my queasy-feelings clear, I was in high school in 1961.  I can't even remember the name of our pastor (Presbyterian) at that time.

And memory plays tricks, especially traumatic memories -- I have been told that I was present when a neighbor's dog knocked my grandmother down, breaking her hip, an injury that started her decline and eventual death.  I remember her visit.  I remember the dog.  I do not remember the fall and injury and ambulances and the rest of the riot.

The return of the native

Errands around town today, including a hot, damp, dusty visit to the Starling Graveyard to verify some dimensions before I get serious on a layout.  And in the process of all that, I retrieved the lawn-mower from durance vile.  They cleaned the carburetor, and it runs.  Mowing will still be a sweaty prospect, but not quite as.

A buck or so under $60.00 US, including oil change and new spark plug.  Much cheaper than a new mower.

Undecided

The weather, that is.  We've had clouds most of the day, some of which looked ragged on the bottom.  No rain, yet, just high humidity.

But Wife and I extracted more blueberries from the side yard, beating the squirrels, mockingbirds, and robins to our crop.  So parts, at least, of life are good.
