Some minor recompense

Lest I give the wrong impression, we do find compensations for the pain of living in the howling wilderness.  On the way back from the nature center this morning, drove past three wild turkeys right by the edge of the pavement.  Prehistoric birds, all bronze and imperial and reptilian.

Signs and portents

The wind has died back enough for my afternoon walk.  Observed, before heading out, some tiny but undeniable green crocus noses poking up by the south side of our house, in the brown, sodden trough where snow melts back from the foundation.
